Fun with Paint

Ok so I follow a few blogs ( http://www.allthingsthrifty.com/, http://twicelovely.blogspot.com/, http://missmustardseed.blogspot.com/ ) that show their creative work with decorating and furniture. The ladies that do these blogs totally inspire me! ******************************************************** My first picture is a dresser my sister gave me......its for my girls to share..............I love how it turned out! The other picture is a nightstand my same sister gave me..............it has become a perfect t.v. stand in my kids play room. I love how everything has a place now! And I love the bright colors ( my husband picked out the green )! I am just a begginner at this painting thing.......but it sure is fun.........minus my hand and arm aching from painting so much ( I literally couldn't go to sleep cuz it was aching so much!)

The reason for the colors is so my girls know which drawers are theirs. The white ones they share........the yellow ones are for S........and the orange ones are for M.

ksl Rocks!

I decided we needed a coffee table in our living room. My kids and hubby are always taking snacks and food in there to watch t.v. (it drives me nuts). I don't mind an occasional special night when we put a blanket down and have pizza and movie.............but my family seems to think anytime they want is a special occasion. They are constantly taking food in there. Since we are living at my parent's house..........I am trying my best to keep my mom's carpet clean and stain free. My family is not exactly helping. So.........I decided to move an area rug into the living room and add a coffee table in hopes that the rug would catch any food droppings and the coffee table would help keep food off the floor. I looked at D.I. for a coffee table but didn't see anything with potential and they all started at $35. So I looked on ksl.com..........................I love ksl.com! I found this awesome table for $20! My awesome hubby picked it up in Farmington for me, and bought my spray paint for me (I can't stand oak, I paint anything oak!). So I painted the table black, and I am so happy how it turned out! p.s. don't mind the silly children and messy room.

1st Tooth

Like a week ago S had her blanket in her mouth and she yanked on it......well it loosened one of her bottom front teeth. I looked up online and found that if we left it alone it might tighten back up, since she really isn't at the age yet to be losing teeth. So I told her to leave it alone......bad idea........she kept loosening it. She got some candy at church today, she was eating her sucker a few minutes ago and came into me crying. She had bit her sucker........................finally I got her calm enough to find out she was crying because it had hurt her loose tooth. So I looked at it and sure enough it was looking like it was going to come out. So, I asked her if she wanted me to pull it....she did. So S is 4 1/2 and just lost her first tooth, yes it is early.............oh well, eventually her adult tooth will grow in..........although it may be a while! I have to admit her toothless smile is pretty cute!

Finally hot enough!

The last week and a half its finally got hot enough to enjoy our little pool! Yeaaa!! B and I have even gotten in a couple of times with the kids. The kids are having fun swimming and relaxing a lot in the water, which was both the goals of getting the pool in the first place........mission being accomplished!! If you look close you can even see the little orange ball going through the hoop! Nice shot Z!

Scout Rocket

Last night was Pack mtg. at Scouts. The boys all made these 2 liter rockets and then got to launch them a couple of times. They went so high, it was more fun than fireworks to watch!

Summer Fun

We decided to get the kids a pool for the summer. I needed something for them to do, and I want Z to relax a little in the water (he still is quite scared). My parent's have an awesome deck, (that my handsome hubby built) that is perfect to have the pool on. So far this summer has been uncommonly cold and rainy so we have only been able to use it a couple of times. The water you see is from the most recent rain storm. Hopefully it will warm up enough soon to use it a lot more!

Crocheted Hershey Kiss

I crocheted this for M's preschool teacher as a thank you. It turned out pretty cute. I think I am going to make some more, like a bigger one for my kitchen since I decorate in m&m and hershey.

Look what I found......

I went into the kids room tonight to collect their laundry to wash and this is what I found.......with safety scissors on the floor right next to it! I am not a happy camper! I knew it wasn't Z, so I called my girls in the room to try and see if I could get them to fess-up. I think they both did it but I'm not sure. Needless to say.......I will by hiding all scissors for a while! Their excuse was that they couldn't find any paper to cut! Seriously? The hampers are a total loss, they are a mesh fabric, I just through them out. I can't believe my girls cut up my hampers! AAAGGGGHHHH!!

Moving

We just moved into my parent's house this week, they went on a mission to Peru! Going on a mission has been a goal for them for many years, I am happy they get to go and hope they have a great mission. Since B and I are the only ones of my siblings that don't have a house, my parents asked if we would live in their house while they were gone. I really didn't WANT to even though I knew it would be a great opportunity for us. And now we are moved in.....and by moved in I mean all our stuff is here, we have a maze of boxes to go through. I still don't want to be here but I know its what we need to do. I just really hope we can get a house when we leave here in 18 months.

Government employees.....they are out to get us! lol

Ok, so I was telling my family about the whole drivers lisence story and my brother jokingly reminded me of another government employee story. This last fall my little family went up to Liberty to spend the weekend with our in-laws, they have a get-a-way house up there. We had a great weekend, we hung-out and helped them take out a bunch of bushes in the yard there. We packed our trailer and truck full of stuff to go to the dump. So we are coming back from Liberty and headed to the dump....the dump closes at 6. We got there about 5:45 pm. B and Z start unloading, I stayed in the truck with the girls. S had burnt her finger on a lamp earlier in the day and had been crying all afternoon, I felt so bad for her. She kept falling asleep, and unless I kept the ice on her finger she would wake up again, it was a hard day. Anyway, the girls and I are in the truck and we see one of the dump workers drive around and up to the gate. He drives right past us and looks at us. After a few minutes I decided I needed to help B unload so we could get done faster. So I start helping and the worker drives by again. I was kind of hoping he would offer to help but he didn't. So a few minutes later we see the worker leave. B and I finish unloading a few minutes later, we get in the truck and we start heading out, now mind you its 6:15. We drive up to the gate and its CLOSED! WITH A LOCK ON IT! I get out and see if they just put the lock on but didn't lock it, I mean its not like they didn't see us or know we were there! But NO it is locked and we are INSIDE! B and I can't believe it! So we drive around the dump looking for any sign of employee that can let us out. Now not only are we locked in the dump but its a long weekend.....so we could be here until tuesday! The kids are kind of scared and we kind of try to laugh and call it an adventure. Z has to pee, well they locked us in! So what are we going to do?? What would you do? We let the poor kid pee at the dump of course! We drive all around the dump......B thinks there may be another entrance for the city trucks.....but sadly no, we can tell you there is only one way in and the same way out of the dump. So after driving around we decide to call the police department, non-emergency of course. The police can't believe they locked us in. In the mean time B calls his brother (that we were helping in Liberty) and tells him the situation, he offers to come down and we can lift the kids over the gate, we decline. B wants to break out his saws-all and break the lock, as much as I like this idea (after all, they locked us in!) I think that is a bad idea, I don't need my husband locked up in jail for breaking a city lock. So after a half hour wait finally a police shows up and unlocks the gate. The officer was cool about it, he was as shocked as we were. The thing is, yes they were closing, but you would think the worker would come and tell us either to leave and come back after the weekend, or help us or some kind of communication! But NO he just decided to lock us in! I seriously hope he gets locked in some kind of situation some day! So after all my recent government employee experiences, I think they are out to get us, so beware!! lol

Freakin idiot government employees! (Long Story)

Ok, so my drivers license expired on my last birthday (a few months ago), I know I know I should have renewed it sooner. Anyway.....you have up to six months before or after your birthday to renew, so its ok. So a few weeks ago I take all my papers and go to Farmington to renew. I have my social security card, my proof of residency, my birth certificate card (wallet-sized version of your birth certificate) and anything else I need. I go in the building and get the paperwork, I go fill it out and take it to the first desk. They say they CAN'T accept my birth certificate card, it HAS to be the original full document! I'm very frustrated......its not like I was born in a different country! So I take all my papers and head home......very irritated.....grumble grumble. To you ladies you understand that when you have to get an ID picture of some kind you spend extra time on your hair and makeup so you don't have to look at your crappy picture for the next few years. So not only did I have to bring all my papers and come back another day, I had to have a "good hair day" again another day! grumble grumble. So about a week later I have all my "acceptable" paper work and go up. My husband and son are with me because we are going to swing up to the Mall after and pick up an order waiting for me. I go into the building and go the first desk. I get my picture and my wait-in-line ticket. So I sit down (its going to be a while) and wait. After about 20-25 minutes they finally call my name. I go up and the cashier scans all my stuff and I am good to go. I go to scan my debit card to pay the fee.....and my card won't scan........we keep trying....like 20 times! Nothing. So the cashier asks me if I have another form of payment......I don't....crap. So she writes "EXPRESS" at the top of my paperwork and tells me to come back with a different form of payment, there is a problem with the magnetic on my card. She says to show the "EXPRESS" when I come back and they will put me at the front of the line, cuz all I have to do is pay. I am very frustrated.....again. So we go find an ATM and get the cash (stupid magnetic strip) and run up to the mall, grab my order and head back to Farmington. I go in and the front-desk guy is standing right by the front door and looks at my papers and tells me they won't have time for me today! WHAT?????? I show him the "EXPRESS", he says that their are a lot of people and they probably won't get to me! I am so irritated at this point I could have spit nails at him! So I go back out to the car, I tell my hubby what happened. We start driving away and he decides HE is going to go in with me and talk to the guy. So we turn around and go back in. The front-desk guy looks at me weird. He tells me the same thing "they probably won't get to me". My husband asks "whats the point of the 'EXPRESS'?". So after some highly irritating conversation my husband just asks for an "EXPRESS" ticket, and says we will try. So the guy gives us a ticket and as I am walking away he says "We will probably get to you" WHAT THE????? I am so ticked at this point, its not pretty. So I go sit down, I kid you not....1 minute later they call my number! I didn't know wether to laugh or shout! So we got everything finished up and left. I really really don't like government employees, I have encountered too many idiots or irritating ones, or worse, both irritating and idiotic! Its a good thing I don't have to renew for 5 years!

My little Zebra

M got her face painted at preschool today......what a cute zebra she is!

The Fastest Texter wins!

Funny story......I am still laughing about it and it happened a couple of weeks ago. I have had this piece of furniture in my hallway that I just don't need or have room for for a few weeks. I really want it gone but my sweet other half just doesn't have time to help me get rid of it. There is nothing wrong with it, I just don't want it anymore. It is what we call a Powder Table. Its a desk/dress type thing with a huge round mirror on it. Its something you would see in the olden times a lady sitting at doing her makeup or hair. I used it for socks and stationary, there are 5 smallish drawers in it. Anyway, I wanted to give it to one of my sisters for her daughters but they just don't have the room for it. So few weeks ago my mom came over for a while. We were upstairs and I mentioned I was trying to get rid of this dresser thing. She asked if I had asked any of my sibling about it. I told her the one sister didn't have room for it. Anyway I decided right then that was a good idea, so I took a picture of it on my cell phone (my youngest daughter wanted to be in the picture, so she stood to the side of it) and texted to my six siblings that I didn't need this anymore and was anyone interested. Within two minutes my second oldest brother S texted me, (I was thrilled! I never hear from him) and texted "we'll take her for sure!". One minute later one of my sisters texted me saying she would like it also. I was thrilled and texting like crazy! My mom watched and laughed at my mad texting skills. So I was texting my S back and forth and about when he could come pick it up. A while later while we are eating dinner I get a text from S that says " he is coming back from Salt Lake, what does it eat?" I was totally confused and acutally that he texted the wrong person. So I texted him back " hu?" No idea what he was talking about. Now this brother of mine is doing well in life financially, and has a always been generous to others, so I was thrilled that he wanted my dress thing! Anway, later that night like 10 o'clock ish, I get another text from S, he says that I am going to think he is nuts but he thought I was talking about my daughter! I was totally shocked and laughing my head off! He texts me that he was getting concerned cuz I kept calling her IT! Anway so we got it straightened out, (he didn't want the dresser thing)and I asked my sister if she still wanted it. I still can't believe my brother thought I would text to see who wanted my daughter! What kind of a mother does he think I am??? lol After all this, I still haven't got rid of the dresser thing, my sister was supposed to come get it, she never showed up. It might end up at the DI the way its going.

Busted.....again

Ok, so seriously my other half has a talent for getting pulled over. Last week he got pulled over twice within a 24 hour time period I think. The registration on the truck is expired, we know that we just haven't had the money to get it fixed so it would pass inspection. Anyway B got pulled over for his registration being expired, the first time he got a ticket (which hopefully they will dismiss when we get it registered), the second time he showed the cop the ticket from the first cop and he totally told B he was going to give me another ticket, B said "really?", they second cop paused for a second and then told him he was joking. So needless to say as I type the truck is in the shop getting fixed so we can register it, its gonna cost us a fortune........guess we won't be eating much for a while...lol.
